We are committed to the planting of many churches throughout Detroit where the gospel is faithfully proclaimed and maintained in all of life.

It’s become quite evident that Detroit/Metro Detroit has a need for hope. Our only hope is to know Jesus Christ and make him known.

The original Detroit Project vision was to see ten faithful, Gospel-centered, outward-facing churches planted by 2030! By 2015 we were able to celebrate two strong Detroit Project churches planted; New City Royal Oak (Planter Ryan McVicar) and Redeemer Detroit (Planter Dan Millward). Now, with Dan having handed off the reigns of Redeemer Detroit to Rev. Jon Saunders in 2020 and focusing all his energies on The Detroit Project, we are now blessed with five more works with another on the way.

Sojourn Sterling Heights—Rev. Steve (Mandy) Van Noort

RedTree Ann Arbor—Rev. Ryan (Megan) McVicar

Grace Dearborn—Rev. Jerry (Katherine) Riendeau

Immanuel Clarkston—Rev. Micah (Laura) Jelinek

Christ Pres Southfield—Rev. Adam (Adrienne) Thomas

Coming Summer 2026 | Windsor, Ontario Canada—Rev. Kingsley (Hannah) Lai

From the Director:

I am truly humbled and honored to be leading this kingdom movement in seeing multiple wonderful works unfolding. It has been privilege to coach each of these zealous, capable and gifted men of God who are leading these works, and to create what we have called a “Church Planting Family.” We do, in a real sense, have all things in common, what the journey together and truly lean on one another. Perhaps the most exciting part of this is the conversion stories—people being transformed by the life-changing work and message of Jesus Christ!

And while the goal for this kingdom movement is daily conversions in accordance with Acts 2:47 the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved, at this point we can with a clear conscience say, the Lord is adding to our number weekly those who are being saved. The stories are remarkable and they keep coming. Each Thursday morning when all the Detroit Project planters/pastors are gathered for prayer we hear of and pray for conversion story after conversion story. And like the first church in Acts 2 we find ourselves in Awe at what the Lord Himself is doing in our midst.

The greatest need we have right now is funding. We want our Gospel ministers to stay focused in the mission. If you like what you are reading and hearing about this movement and would like to learn more about what the Lord is doing and how you might partner with us, I would be delighted to meet with you in person, or via ZOOM or phone!

And it is worth noting that 100% of Pledges go to the Project. No denominational fees are taken from what is pledged!

May God continue to bless this work he has called us to, and may you and all who would partner with us in this amazing kingdom movement!

Together in Christ—Rev. Dan Millward

With a population of 4.3 million and only 4 PCA churches, the metro Detroit area provides a landscape ripe with opportunity.
